FIELD: magnetohydrodynamic power conversion. SUBSTANCE: device has two groups of thyristors for 2n thyristors in any group, two loads in form of inverters driven by network, separating capacitor, coupling condenser, thyristor autonomous control unit. Cathodes of n thyristor of any group are connected through separating capacitor, cathodes of the other n thyristors of any group are connected to anode group of electrodes of MHD-generator. Adjacent electrodes in this group are connected through coupling condensers. Autonomous control unit is connected to control electrodes of the thyristor. Device provides reliable interruption of currents with any values in the moment when arc is localized onto electrodes by means of regulating working frequency of switch of thyristors. EFFECT: prolonged life of electrodes of MHD-generator; reduced losses of power. 3 dwg
