FIELD: chemical, hydrometallurgical, water purifying industry branches. SUBSTANCE: method comprises steps of filtering liquid through a dense layer of a ionite in a head tower with batchwise charging and discharging of the ionite; partial discharging of a waste liquid out of a depth of the layer; introducing an initial liquid through a lower draining device, being washed, with suction off gases, laden by the initial liquid; periodical agitation before charging up the layer of the ionite and separation of the ionite, being charged up, from mechanical additives. Apparatus for performing the method has the head tower, including well filters, inserted to an upper draining device and alternated with short cartridges, a branched wire framework-type cartridge for feeding and draining the initial liquid, gas suction-off pipe with a cock, embedded to an upper dead portion of the wire cartridge, a grating in a charging hopper.
