FIELD: shipbuilding. SUBSTANCE: propeller has hull with two-layer flexible envelope embracing it. Envelope consists of layers 3 and 4. Envelope is divided into chambers 7 by means of inner partitions 5. Chambers 7 are filled with liquid, with water for example. Arranged in chamber 7 are pairs of discharge electrodes 8 and discharge formers connected with shipboard power supply unit by means of switching equipment emplying, for example, thyristors. When propeller power supply is cut in, discharges in chambers expand the outer flexible envelope forming deformation wave travelling over flexible envelope which carries adjacent layers of sorrounding medium, thus creating the reactive thrust of propeller.
