4 TO BURANEDIOL-1.4. FIELD: catalytic chemistry. SUBSTANCE: to a solution of potassium tetrachloropalladoate are added crystallohydrates of a sodium salt of tungstic acid and a potassium salt of hexaniobic acid of the formula: K7HNb6O19·12H2O in a 2 weight ration and at a tungsten and niobium to palladium atomic ration of 1-2 followed by heating the mixture to the boiling point, cooling and treating it with a reducing agent such as hydrogen, forming a palladium sol and suspending α- aluminium oxide therein, separating the resulting precipitate and drying the latter. The new catalyst has an activity of not greater than 9.7 mole/s*g Pd and a butenediol-1.4 selectivity of 98%. EFFECT: improved activity and selectivity.
