FIELD: machine engineering. SUBSTANCE: method comprises steps of piercing holes in a printing circuit, board, being moved, at scanning by pulse-type laser irradiation along a surface of the board; providing a stationary focal spot on the board at process of hole piercing or moving the spot with a rate less, than the board motion speed. Apparatus for piercing holes has a laser, a pulse modulator, a focusing system, a rotary mirror, an irradiation pulse detector, a control system, a coordinate table for mounting the printing circuit board, being worked. The apparatus also has a timing unit, a drive mechanism for scanning the rotary mirror, pickups for measuring frequency and phase of the mirror scanning. The timing unit provide synchronization of the frequency and the phase of the mirror scanning motion relative to the frequency and the phase of the irradiation pulses. The control system provides synchronization of the table motion speed relative to the frequency and the phase of the irradiation pulses in such a way, that these pulses correspond to nodes of a coordinate network of the printing circuit board. An optical shutter provides transmission of the laser irradiation pulses only to those nodes of the coordinate network, where it is necessary to pierce holes.
