FIELD: physics of low-temperature plasma. SUBSTANCE: method involves formation of electrode spot on part of surface of one of sections of investigated electrode by maintaining difference of potentials between selected and other sections of investigated electrode. Investigated electrode is manufactured in the form of coaxial cylindrical sections. Lashing together is accomplished over face surface of central section. Difference of potentials between sections of electrode is set with the aid of resistors placed in series in power supply circuits of corresponding electrode or by heating of selected section of electrode thermally insulated from other sections. Current of arc is increased to values conforming formation of electrode spot on at least one of other sections of investigated electrode and maximum value of current in circuit of selected section is recorder. Value of current through electrode spot is determined by value of maximum current in circuit of selected section. Parameters of discharge are found by measured values. EFFECT: enhanced precision of determination of parameters of arc discharge thanks to provision for accurate determination of density of current in electrode spot. 4 cl, 1 dwg
