FIELD: methods for production of plastic blanks. SUBSTANCE: invention increases polymerization rate 2.5-12 times, reduces discharge of styrene vapors into atmosphere down to 25-27 g/h and decreases concentration of styrene vapors at working station down to 6 mg/m3. In addition, duration of process is cut down to 20-40 h and yield of faulty parts is reduced by 45-50% due to realization of method which involves two-stage radical polymerization in mass of vinylaromatic monomer in presence of activating luminophore addition, another addition which offsets the luminescence spectrum and 2,4-alkyl (C1-C2) thiophenols in the amount of 2·10-3-2·10-2 moles per 1 l of monomer at 50-90 C to a conversion of 60-80% followed by final polymerization of monomer to solid state at 160 C. EFFECT: improved ecological purity, acceleration of process and higher yield of sound articles while retaining their scintillation characteristics. 2 dwg, 3 tbl
