FIELD: welding of article. SUBSTANCE: method involves sealing articles, for example radioactive isotope sources from refractory and chemically active metals having thickness of up to 2 mm, by welding connections of separate portions with nonmelting electrode in the presence of shielding gas; prior to welding separate portions of connections, determining gas flow rate Ucr from article inner volume through connection, at which molten metal splash from welding bath occurs; providing continuous control of gas flow rate current value in the process of welding connection; stopping welding process in case gas flow rate is increased up to (0,8-0,9)Ucr and holding the article in such state until gas flow rate current value from article cavity through connection is reduced to (0,2-0,5)Ucr; resuming the process and welding subsequent connection portion.
