CENTRIFUGE FOR SEPARATION OF SUSPENSION Russian patent published in 1994 - IPC

FIELD: clarification and thickening of suspensions in hydrometallurgy, medical and other industries. SUBSTANCE: centrifuge comprises casing and cone-shaped rotor mounted on vertical shaft. The casing bottom has a chamber for letting in untreated suspension while in its upper part there are receivers with outlet pipe unions for light fraction and sediment. Rotor has a cover on the upper end, a device for untreated suspension secured in the bottom, and devices for discharging light fraction and sediment. Centrifuge is provided with a device for recirculation of thickened sediment into rotor until said sediment reaches preset concentration. Device comprises one cone-shaped shell with its base facing down and installed in rotor coaxially therewith , and another cone-shaped shell secured on cover outside of rotor and having its base also facing down. Secured to casing is recirculate-collecting chamber communicating in its bottom with the liquid suspension delivery chamber. The chamber has outlet pipe union for thickened sediment of a preset concentration whose inlet hole is located under the outlet hole of sediment receiver outlet pipe union.
