FIELD: measurement technology. SUBSTANCE: controllable space optical shutter 5 forms narrow bundle of rays from collimated bundle of rays. Controllable space optical shutter shifts in space of narrow bundle of rays by the signals from output of control unit 12; as a result, discrete scanning of surface of object 15 being checked is effected, after which computer 11 calculates the profile of surface of object 15 being checked by the signals from output from linear position sensitive photodetector 9 and control unit 12. EFFECT: high speed of response due to avoidance of mechanical scanning. 2 dwg
