FIELD: routine monitoring of quality of iron ore in mining, processing and dressing. SUBSTANCE: sample of magnetic iron ore is poured in dish and is placed in converter coil. Then magnetic susceptibility kn when both alternating and permanent magnetic fields are applied to the sample and ko when only alternating field is applied to the sample, after which change in magnetic susceptibility Δ = Ko=Kн and ratio of magnetic susceptibility to its change are calculated. Content of ferromagnetic substance in the sample is determined by graduation relationship plotted beforehand by graduation relationship; magnitude of permanent magnetizing field is selected within a range of from 25 to 55 kA/m.
