FIELD: nuclear power engineering; checking pipelines for leakage. SUBSTANCE: acoustic signal pulses caused by leakage of heat carrier are recorded and pulse envelope is discriminated. Pulses are recorded at end of section of pipeline under checking. Then mean length of leading edge of pulse envelope is found, and leakage is located from relation l= tl.e.·K where l-distance from point of pulse recording to place of leakage; τl.e. - mean length of leading edge of acoustic signal pulse envelope; K - constant coefficient for type of pipeline under checking. EFFECT: enhanced accuracy of location of leakage in pipelines. 3 dwg
