FIELD: cake and by-product process. SUBSTANCE: primary cooling of coke-oven gas is accomplished in two stages with gas cooling in the first stage by way of direct contact with an aqueous solution containing ammonia and its salts, subsequent separation of coal tar from the aqueous solution, cooling of the solution and its return to the first stage with removal of excess solution from the cycle, cleaning of coke-oven gas from ammonia and acid components by scrubbing with ammonia liquor with subsequent desorption of absorbed components by distillation with steam and their condensation with separation of concentrated ammonia liquor; after coal tar is separated from the solution it is subjected to successive vacuum cooling in two stages; in the first stage a vacuum of 65 to 75 kPa is maintained and formed vapors are fed to desorption of absorbed components from the ammonia of 80 to 82 kPa is removed from the cycle; after cooling and separation of vapors the solution is fed to the first stage of gas primary cooling. EFFECT: cheapened and simplified procedure. 1 dwg, 2 tbl
