METHOD AND DEVICE FOR INITIATING GAS-DYNAMIC LASER Russian patent published in 2006 - IPC H01S3/22

Abstract SU 1839941 A1

FIELD: quantum electronics; large lasers burning combustion products.

SUBSTANCE: in order to initiate laser working-medium components are supplied to gas producer, fuel component parts are mixed up and burned in auxiliary gas producer followed by adding part of ballast component flow to mixture at outlet of auxiliary gas producer. Then remaining main part of flow of all working-medium components is mixed up before feeding it to main gas producer. Combustion products coming from auxiliary gas producer are mixed up with main part of flow of all working-medium components, and combustible mixture is ignited. In the process fuel supply to auxiliary gas producer is ceased upon its ignition at time delay exceeding warm-up period of laser. Proposed laser has main and auxiliary gas producers, sources of working-medium components, and control system incorporating computerized unit for feeding auxiliary and main fuel. Computerized units are provided with shut-off valves having their opening and closing circuits and pressure sensor mounted on auxiliary and main gas producers and connected to shut-off valve closing and opening circuits through control system. In addition, proposed control system has newly introduced program-controlled auxiliary fuel shut-off unit incorporating adjustable time delay control device with closing circuit and output. Closing circuit of time delay device is connected to pressure controller mounted on main gas producer through pressure alarm. Output of time delay device is connected to closing circuit of shut-off valve feeding fuel to auxiliary gas producer. Closing circuit of time delay device is integrated with that of shut-off valve for feeding fuel to main gas producer.

EFFECT: enhanced specific power take-off.
