FIELD: radiochemical control in nuclear power engineering; checking reactor-core fuel elements for tightness.
SUBSTANCE: proposed method includes acidification of source iodine isotope containing water coolant to pH = 3.0 - 3.5 and its passage through column accommodating sorbents applied to porous matrix, this being followed by measurement of sorbent radioactivity; used as sorbents are sequentially disposed zirconium oxide and metal sorbent based on finely dispersed copper, bismuth, or silver. This method provides for multiple reuse of metal sorbent upon exposure needed for disintegration of iodine isotopes.
EFFECT: enhanced radiochemical purity of iodine radionuclide preparations and reduced time taken for general analysis.
