METHOD FOR ROENTGEN-FLUORESCENT ANALYSIS OF PRESENCE OF HEAVY ELEMENTS IN ENVIRONMENT Russian patent published in 2006 - IPC G01N23/223

Abstract SU 1840244 A1

FIELD: nuclear-physical technologies for analyzing elementary composition of substance, in particular, fluorescent roentgen-radiometric analysis and can be used for engineering devices for finding enclosures of heavy chemical elements in subject substance, in particular, gold and products made of it, concealed under clothing on body of a person.

SUBSTANCE: method includes irradiating subject substance by a stream of gamma-radiation and registering of characteristic radiation of subject element selected by selective filter. For materials with varying surface density, ratio of output of native characteristic radiation, excited by radiation dissipated in environment, to falling angle of dissipated radiation onto surface of material, is measured. For selective filter, material is selected with minimal surface density, for which maximum of measured ratio is close to 0°. Intensiveness of characteristic radiation of filter is registered from this material. Presence of element to be detected is evaluated on basis of total intensiveness of characteristic radiations of element to be found and filter.

EFFECT: increased precision of analysis with alternating distance between analyzer and substance.
