FIELD: nuclear physics; analyses of material component elements.

SUBSTANCE: proposed analyzer that can be used for detecting inclusions of heavy chemical elements in medium being analyzed has first radiation source installed in container, radiation detector, and two recording channels connected to comparison circuit. First channel is designed to record pulses in spectrum region corresponding to energy of K absorption shock of element being analyzed. Second channel is used for recording in second higher-energy region of spectrum. In addition, target is mounted in area irradiated by primary-radiation source so that its side being radiated faces the detector. Material chosen for target is such that energy of its characteristic radiation occurs in same spectrum region as characteristic radiation energy of element being analyzed.

EFFECT: ability of compensating for count rate unbalance among recording channels due to primary radiation passed to detector through shielding container walls.
