FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to high-temperature electrochemistry, particularly, to devices exploiting zirconium oxide-based electrolyte intended for electrolysis or electric power production. Invention covers high-temperature battery with solid electrolyte, method of its assembly and electric-insulation layer substance used to this end. Proposed solid electrolyte features a new shape with rectangular flutes and gas manifold for one of reagents. Note here that production process is considerably simplified while strength of joint between elements approximates to that of material proper. Note that new electric-insulation layer substance is proposed that features high adhesion to Pt (Na5YSi4O12). High strength and reliability, optimum and simple design allow using said electrochemical devices in manned spaceship life-support systems and in production of local generators of high-purity oxygen and hydrogen.
