SUBSTANCE: invention is intended for use in a radar system. The transponder beacon includes a multitapped receiver with different operating thresholds, a decoding unit connected to said receiver and a response signal former, the output of which is connected to the input of a transmitter. The transponder beacon also includes series-connected pulse-by-pulse amplitude comparator circuit, a time delay circuit, a maximum amplitude storage circuit, an automatic tap selection circuit, a selection circuit, the output of which is connected to the input of the response signal former, the second output of the pulse-by-pulse amplitude comparator circuit is connected to the input of the pulse-by-pulse amplitude comparator circuit, the output of the decoding unit is connected to other inputs of the selection circuit and the pulse-by-pulse amplitude comparator circuit, multitapped outputs of the receiver are connected to the second input of the automatic tap selection circuit and to the third input of the pulse-by-pulse amplitude comparator circuit, the second output of which is connected to the second input of the maximum amplitude storage circuit. The number of taps of the receiver is determined using certain formulae.
EFFECT: high accuracy and speed of determining coordinates in a radar-transponder system.
