FIELD: radio engineering and communications.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to radio engineering and can be used in designing means of identifying aerial targets. Essence of the invention lies in the fact that the air target identification is carried out based on the response signals pulses processing, which reception is carried out with the adapted false alarm probability, wherein the false alarm probability is adapted to the ratio of the average power of the response signal to the noise power at the input of the interrogator receiver, so as to ensure a minimum probability of the total error.
EFFECT: high probability of correct identification of an air target at low ratios of power of the response signal to noise power at the input of the interrogator receiver.
