ALUMINIUM ELECTROLYZER Russian patent published in 1994 - IPC

Abstract RU 2005815 C1

FIELD: aluminium production. SUBSTANCE: electrolyzer comprises cathode positioned under continuous anode which consists of carbon blocks glued or otherwise fastened to one another. When replacing the carbon used up in the course of electrolysis, the anode is built up by new carbon blocks. Anode is divided into sections of quick-disconnect holders or cassettes disposed close to one another along the electrolyzer. Upper edge of each cassette is provided with projections intended for disconnecting it from load-bearing walls or structures on longer sides of electrolyzer. EFFECT: improved functional and operating characteristics. 9 cl, 9 dwg
