FIELD: design of aluminum electrolyzers. SUBSTANCE: electrolyzer with self-sintering electrode for production of aluminum has cathode that presents electrolyzer bath, unit of anode enclosure placed above cathode in immobile position and carrying carbon anode partially passing into electrolytic bath, means to feed and remove direct current from electrolyzer and aid to inject additives, for instance aluminum oxide, into electrolyzer bath. Anode is divided into two sections so that unit of anode enclosure is composed of two sections placed in parallel and one close to another. Separable lid or structure is positioned between sections of enclosure. Proposed design ensures solving of problem of air pollution, improves gas trapping, simplified loading and provides for metered loading.
