FIELD: testing equipment, non-destructive testing. SUBSTANCE: method can be used for test and operation of energy-consuming power plants, for instance, compressor and turbine plants. External permanent magnetic field is applied to specimens of elements of article in process of preliminary test. Specimens are brought to failure and range of frequencies of acoustic emission and amplitude of emf of induction of field of emerging eddy currents is recorded. Amplitude of emf of induction in range of frequencies of acoustic emission is measured in process of operation of article. This amplitude of emf of induction is used to pass judgment on integrity of element of article. Method makes it feasible to control dynamics of destruction process over its entire extent from its state of stress to finish of process of destruction.
