FIELD: metallurgy. SUBSTANCE: PLASMA reverse-flow furnace with running off layer of melt for melting of small fraction materials has central electrode made of graphite with axial space and thread in upper part and seal built in the form of water-cooled pipe which lower face is located at distance L = 100.0-400.0 mm from level of upper face of reactor, gas take-off chamber fabricated dismountable with cone widening downwards and additional hole in upper part having diameter D=(1.1-2.0)d1, where d1 is inner diameter of reactor. Reactor is provided with graphite screen placed inside with clearance 1 equal to (1/80-1/4) l=(1/80-1/4)d1. Lower face of screen is put into working chamber to depth H= (100-300) mm below roof. Hearth of working chamber is additionally fitted with graphite stacking positioned between lining and metal bottom having external water cooling. EFFECT: prolonged service life of central electrode and reactor, reduced temperature of off-gases, increased factor of use of heat of plasma discharge and provision for explosion safety of hearth of working chamber. 1 tbl, 4 dwg
