FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of metallurgy, in particular to the design of plasma furnaces. The furnace lining is multi-layer. The first layer is made of a material with a thermal conductivity of at least 150 W/(m·K) and a thickness of at least 0.05 m. The second layer and the third layer are made of a material with a thermal conductivity of 1 to 5 W/(m·K) and a thickness of 0.1 to 0.15 m. The fourth layer is made of a material with a thermal conductivity of 0.1 to 0.5 W/(m·K) and a thickness of at least 0.15 m. Sheets of molybdenum are rigidly fixed to the inner part of the first lining layer.
EFFECT: invention makes it possible to increase stability of the thermal balance of the plasma furnace while increasing the chemical purity of the obtained corundum.
