FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: invention concerns direct iron-carbon metal by means of plasma technology in ferrous metallurgy. Furnace includes body and cover, lined by refractory material, feeder for charging source material, gas flue, tap hole for metal and slag tapping, sources of plasma heating as plasmatrones of indirect action, mounted in furnace sidewall. Cover from side of gas flue is executed with water-cooling rib, which protrudes from cover inside furnace and for with furnace wall channel, communicating with inner chamber of gas flue. In walls there are installed symmetrical to each other angularly 18-20° to the plane of bottom, mounted plasmatrones of indirect action. Tap-hole for metal and slag tapping is located in furnace wall in the plane of bottom on symmetry axis, permeate through intersection of plasmatrones longitudinal axis. At opposite wall of furnace from tap-hole facility for additional charge of source material is mounted, e.g. pellet.
EFFECT: reducing of furnace material consumption and increasing of reducing gas and iron recovery rate from melt reliance.
