FIELD: manufacture of polymeric films. SUBSTANCE: aromatic polycarbonates are prepared by phosgenation or esterification of diphenols in hot melt with subsequent polycondensation of the reaction product. Diphenol may be 1,1-bis(4-hydroxyphenyl)-3,3,5-trimethylcyclohexane, 1,1-bis(3,5-dimethyl-4-hydroxyphenyl)-3,3,5-trimethylcyclohexane, 1,1-bis(4-hydroxyphenyl)-3,3-dimethylcyclohexane, or any mixture thereof with diphenylolpropane, with their molar ratio being of (20-55): (45-80).
