SUBSTANCE: with engine operating, ring 4 of piston 1 engages with surface 6 of wear-resistant ring 2 with layer 5 on bearing surface 6 and side surface 7 partially fused to depth δ equal to value of tolerable wear of surface 6 of ring 2. Surfaces 6, 7 and 8, 9 have section ABC formed in cross-section of ring 2 by hypotenuse AB of triangle ABC whose height CD dropped from apex C on hypotenuse AB is twice as great as tolerable wear of surface 6 of ring 2. Layer 5 and its section ABC preclude intensive wear and extrusion of ring 2 in area of edge (point C). EFFECT: enhanced reliability of compression rings. 3 dwg
