FIELD: marine diesel engines. SUBSTANCE: cylinder liner has steel part 1 and cast-iron part 2 connected together. Steel part 1 is made in form of circular lining with stepped end surface on side of cast-iron part. Mating surface of cast-iron part is also stepped. Inner surface of steel lining is located above top piston ring 3 when piston is in top dead center. Liner is provided with cooling water passages. Such construction of liner provides for taking up maximum thermal loads by upper steel circular lining and removing maximum amount of heat. EFFECT: enhanced efficiency. 1 dwg
