FIELD: wind-electric power engineering. SUBSTANCE: wind-electric unit has support, generator geared with hollow vertical shaft free to rotate about support and provided with top and bottom spiders with vertical pins of turning blades secured inbetween and displaced in respect to their longitudinal axes of symmetry. Blades have operating and positioning mechanisms. Positioning mechanism has current-collecting brushes on top spider coming in contact with contact quadrants of wind-bane mechanism mounted on support and provided with windwheel with horizontal axle which is coupled with wind-to-electric energy converter. Blade operating mechanism has spring-loaded turning clutches coupled with electromagnet rod and mounted on ends of blade pins at the bottom. Electromagnet coils are connected in parallel with converter via first relay; brushes and contact quadrants are spaced 90 deg. apart. Coil of first relay is connected to contacts of second relay connected to generator. Surfaces of running blades on one side of support are placed into wind at right or acute angle, their jaw clutches are engaged and electromagnets are disconnected from converter. Idle blades placed on other side of support with turned-on electromagnets and disengaged clutches are positioned with their surfaces downwind. When wind speed exceeds rated value, generator voltage increases, second relay opens contacts of first relay and idle blades, with their clutches engages, start running under effect of wind and brake shaft until generator voltage drops to normal value.
