FIELD: mechanical engineering. SUBSTANCE: steel band is passed through bath with zinc containing 50-60 % (by mass) of aluminum and 1-2 % (by mass) of silicon. The bath contains additionally 0.0001-0.2 % (by mass) of strontium and at least one more element selected between vanadium and chrome with maximum amount of each equal to 0.2 % (by mass). EFFECT: addition of strontium and chrome and/or vanadium stabilizes coating structure and decreases formation of needle-shaped sediments of silicon; coating has higher adhesion and plasticity allowing its formation without cracks and fully retaining of excellent resistance to corrosion; this method allows obtaining of finer and more regular coating pattern independent of the kind of substrate. 8 cl, 7 dwg, 1 tbl
