FIELD: measurement technology. SUBSTANCE: invention is based on the fact that dielectric and radio emission properties of soils are determined by moisture contained in them which makes it possible having radiation-and-moisture dependences to determine volumetric humidity of soil by method of remote probing in SHF range. Radiation-and-moisture dependences are obtained under laboratory conditions. For this a priori data acquired as a result of laboratory measurements of complex dielectric permeability of soils selected in areas of remote probing operations are used. Humidity of soil is determined by radiation-and-moisture dependence or by formula specified in description of invention. EFFECT: reduced time of determination of soil humidity, increased productivity. 1 tbl
