FIELD: mechanical engineering. SUBSTANCE: maximum permissible intensity Eperm of electric field in sample of tested lot of enamel is found experimentally. Then parameters G0 and A are determined also experimentally of dependence of conductance of enamel on intensity presented in the form of exponential curve G=G0exp (AE). After this maximum permissible intensity Emax in coat is determined with preset values of maximum voltage applied to insulator, of thickness, dielectric permittivity of insulator and length of coat by calculation of distribution of voltage in capacitive-ohmic model of insulator with coat in which ohmic element presenting coat has dependence of conductance on intensity in the form of exponential curve with parameters G0 and A. This helps to make conclusion on usability of enamel if Emax is less than Eperm. EFFECT: improved reliability of work of enamel in coats. 1 tbl
