FIELD: electric power plants, in particular, using heat-emission reactor converting heat directly into electric power. SUBSTANCE: reactor testing of heat-emission power-generating assemblies with one insulated terminal involves two cycles for measuring current-voltage characteristics upon measuring heat power emitted by each current-generating element; measuring breakdown voltage Vb in first cycle of measuring current-voltage characteristics, setting number of broken element to element in which difference of emitted heat powers is maximal. Electrical strength of collector insulation is calculated using equation Ves= (K-nnc)Vb/p, where nsc is number of short-circuited elements between insulated terminal and broken element; p is number of operating elements. EFFECT: increased precision and safety. 1 dwg
