FIELD: manufacture of shrunk ceramic products. SUBSTANCE: essence of new method resided in admixing powdery compact boron nitride modification with refractory compounds selected from group including carbides, nitrides, borides and carbonitrides of transition metals classified under group including Ti, Zr, Hf, Nb, V, and Ta powdery metallic component. At first, researchers sintered admixture of 10 to 89.9 % by volume of refractory compound and 0.1 to 20 % by volume powdery metallic component which was silicon and/or aluminum. Resultant cake was ground and admixed with boron nitride (BN) having particle size either equal to or smaller than 7 ≅ 7 μm. Ratio of BN to ground cake was 10 to % by volume to 20 to 90 % by volume, respectively. Compound of general formula MeAx was employed as refractory ingredient, where Me represented transition metal selected from above mentioned group, A denoted C and/or N or B and x was either equal to or smaller than 0.93. In this manner was obtained material in which refractory compound produced continuous matrix with distributed boron nitride crystals. EFFECT: more durable cutting tools. 10 dwg
