FIELD: measurement technology. SUBSTANCE: process of carrying out the method starts with cleaning a measuring platinum electrode, which is performed by connecting it to the positive terminal of a power source supplying a current the strength of which is dictated by the requirement that all ions of halogens are oxidized to their neutral state. In order to desorb and dissolve in water the halogens produced during the cleaning operation, the liquid medium under test is allowed while stirring with the current turned off. After that oxidation of organic substances is conducted in the total amount of the liquid medium under test; in doing so, the measuring platinum electrode is connected to the negative terminal of the power source supplying a current the strength of which is dictated by the requirement that excessive ions are oxidized to their ions, working electrodes are kept at the potential required to oxidize halogen ions to their neutral state. The oxidation process is conducted as the liquid medium under test is continuously stirred. When neutral ions of halogens are detected in the liquid medium under test, the process of oxidation is considered to be completed. The time taken by organic substances for oxidation is used for determination of the amounts of organic substances in the sample under test. EFFECT: more reliable results. 6 dwg, 2 tbl
