SUBSTANCE: cast iron has the following composition, wt. -% : carbon 1.8-3.5; silicon 0.5-0.9; manganese 1-2; chrome 6-7; nickel 4.5-6.0; molybdenum 1.0-1.5; titanium 0.3-0.4; cerium 0.2-0.4; copper 0.2-0.5; hafnium 1.8-2.8, and iron - the rest. Cast iron is used in machine tool manufacture. Positive effect: cast iron shows the following properties: hardness, strength, heat resistance, crack-resistance, wear- resistance.
