FIELD: methods of measuring decomposition of materials. SUBSTANCE: sample is chosen, dried, ground till achieving sizes of particles of ≅0,25mm, pressed and IR-spectrum of absorption of the sample is recorded, Optical densities are measured in maximums of absorption bands 1030-1070cm-1 and 1610-1640cm-1, then relation of these densities are calculated, degree of peat decomposition is determined according to the value of the relation, with using preliminary constructed calibration curve for the samples with known decomposition degree.
