FIELD: production of glass. SUBSTANCE: bath-type furnace has melting reservoir with thin-walled clarifying zone and restoration basin communicated with melting reservoir through passage. Separating screen is mounted above passage to separate clarification zone from remaining part of melting reservoir. Separating screen is disposed so that it does not reach furnace bottom. Doom above clarification zone is higher than doom part disposed above remaining part of melting reservoir, where electrodes are positioned. Clarification zone hearth is formed with knuckle.
