FIELD: preparation of carbonaceous materials. SUBSTANCE: to prepare a coal-tar pitch binder by heat treatment of a coal-tar resin, prior to the thermal treatment, 10-35 wt % of a heavy resin resulting from the pyrolysis of petroleum products are added to the coal-tar resin, and the heat treatment operation is carried out at 260-280 C and the reaction mixture is simultaneously purged with air. EFFECT: shaping reduced cancer-producing power of the binder due to smaller amount of benzapyrene and wider range of raw materials for the preparation of the binder.
