FIELD: metallurgy. SUBSTANCE: method of silver refining involves heating up to 700-1200 C, melting, injection of oxygen-containing gas in the melt, and simultaneous addition of alkali hydroxide and boric acid. Melting is carried out by two stages: the first - in air medium up to purity 99.8% ; the second - in oxygen atmosphere up to purity 99.9% and above in the presence of the flux of the following composition, wt. -% : potassium fluoride 30-35; potassium hydroxide 15-25, and boric acid - the rest. EFFECT: decreased loss of silver, additional purification from iron, magnesium and silicon. 1 tbl
