METHOD FOR PRODUCTION OF MASSECUITE Russian patent published in 1994 - IPC

FIELD: sugar industry; massecuite production. SUBSTANCE: method includes steps of thickening sugar-containing solution in a vacuum apparatus; seeding of crystals; growing of crystals to produce a crystal base; separating a part of the latter and delivering it to another vacuum apparatus; subsequent growing of crystals in the vacuum apparatus; and final thickening of massecuites. The crystal growing in the vacuum apparatuses is effected by maintaining the crystal concentration in the massecuite at 30-35%. The final thickening in each apparatus is effected in two stages. The first stage is carried out at pressure of 650-670 mm Hg until the dry substances concentration reaches 89-91%. The second stage is carried out at pressure of 600-615 mm Hg until the dry substances concentration reaches the desired value. EFFECT: increased efficiency of the process. 1 tbl
