FIELD: producing carbonaceous adsorbents. SUBSTANCE: carbonaceous adsorbents are produced by carbonation and activation of solid raw material in a vertical shaft-type apparatus wherein the raw material and a steam-and-air mixture are fed into the upper part of the apparatus and a water steam is injected into the lower part of it. The combustion gas is exhausted in the location intermediate between the carbonation area and the seat of injection of steam into the lower part of the apparatus. EFFECT: improved quality of adsorbent.
