FIELD: tamping of railway track ballast. SUBSTANCE: track packing unit has support 33 carrying two eccentric shafts 23 and 24 spaced apart along the unit. Each concentric shaft is connected through respective drive 29 to one tie tamper 20 located on corresponding end section of the unit, and two tie tampers 21. Vertical axes of tie tampers 20 and axis of rotation of eccentric shafts 23 and 24 connected to tie tampers 21 are located in same vertical plane passing through one ballast box.
