FIELD: rare metal production. SUBSTANCE: method involves the reduction of ammonium perrhenate containing 0.35-4.0 wt.-% powder-like metallic rhenium with vapors of organic substance taken from the following group: alcohol of the general formula R1CH2OH, alkylamine of the general formula R1NH2, dialkylamine of the general formula R1R2NH, trialkylamine of the general formula R1R2R3N, aldehyde of the general formula R1CHO, amide of the general formula R1CONH2, hydrocarbon of the general formula CpH2p+2, dimethylamide of the general formula R1CON(CH3)2, diamide of the general formula NH2COR4CONH2 or polyvinylbutyral, where R1, R2, R3 = CH2H+1, R4=CnH2n at n = 1-10, p = 5-14, or with the mixtures of indicated substances for 5-30 min following increase of temperature up to 400-500 C, complete reduction and the following treatment of prepared powder with steam at 200-600 C for 0.5-5 h at the mole ratio initial ammonium perrhenate:water = 1:(0.1-100). Absolute initial charge thickness is 0.2-3 cm. The yield of product is retained at the level 99.2-99.9%, density of ready small bars of rhenium is increased up to 87-88%, caking temperature is decreased by 200 C. EFFECT: enhanced quality of product. 3 tbl
