FIELD: technological processes.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of electrochemical production of compact layers of elemental metallic rhenium from its compounds by electrolysis of melts. Rhenium-containing component is electrolyzed in the molten salt, where potassium perrhenate is used as the rhenium-containing component. Electrolysis is carried out in a melt containing a mixture of salts from 16.85–37.28 wt.% potassium fluoride, 73.05–40.39 wt.% potassium fluoroborate and 10.1–22.33 wt.% boron oxide when introduced into this mixture of potassium perrhenate in the amount of 9–15 wt.%. Process is conducted in an atmosphere of air at a temperature of from 500 to 600 °C and cathode current density from 20 to 100 mA/cm2.
EFFECT: method allows to achieve a decrease in the temperature of the electrolysis and the elimination of the use of a protective atmosphere of inert gas.
