FIELD: production of catalysts. SUBSTANCE: catalyst is obtained by pyrolysis of ammonium dichromate and alkali metal at a concentration of less than 1000 fractions per million. It is preferably to use potassium and/or sodium as alkali metal. The content of alkali metal of said concentration is provided by treatment of chromic oxide containing more than 100 fractions per million of alkali metal or ammonium dichromate containing 60 to 200 fractions per million of alkali metal by water.
