FIELD: aluminum production. SUBSTANCE: when electrolyzer filled with electrolyte is being placed in service, bath voltage is raised to 15- 20 V and held for 0.4-0.5 h. When aluminum is loaded, voltage is raised to 20-30 V until complete dissolution and then 8-10 V voltage is maintained for further 24 h with boron-containing component added in quantity 0.03-0.06 wt % (on boric anhydride basis in relation to liquid metal). In post-launch period, voltage is maintained according to following schedule (day Ц V): 2 Ц 8.5-7.0; 3 Ц 7.5-6.0; 4 Ц 6.5- 5.5; 5 Ц 5.0 ± 0.2; 6 Ц 5.5-6.0; 7 Ц 6.5-7.0; 8 Ц 7.0-7.5; 9 Ц 7.5- 8.0; 10 Ц 8.0-7.5; 11 Ц 7.5-7.0; 12 Ц 7.0-6.5; 13 Ц 6.0-5.5; 14 Ц 6.0-5.5; 15 Ц 5.5-5.0; 16 Ц 5.5-5.0; 17 Ц 5.0-4.5. On 2, 3, 4, 11, 12, and 13th days, boron-containing component is added into the bath in quantity 0.03-0.05 wt % (as above), after 30 days of electrolyzer operation - 0.06-0.5 wt %, and after 60-75 days Ц 0.0600.12 wt % daily for 2-4 days. EFFECT: increased lining stability, electrolyzer lifetime, and improved quality of metal. 3 cl
