METHOD AND DEVICE FOR ACCELERATED SOWING TO GRASS Russian patent published in 1994 - IPC

FIELD: agriculture. SUBSTANCE: breaking up soil with increased feeding to knife ensures that 50 - 70% of soil fragments are the size under 5 cm. Before sowing seeds of grass the soil is additionally crushed to fragments of smaller size. The top surface of the broken layer is levelled to the depth of sowing so that the content of fragments under 2.5 cm can reach 80 - 100% . The respective densities of the upper crushed layer and the bottom broken one are in the ratio ranging from 1 to 1.4-1.6. The grasses of large-seeded cultures are applied at the interface of the above-mentioned levels. Thanks to the presowing compaction the densities of these levels decrease to 1: 1.4-1.6. The assembly for presow soil compaction is fixed on the back suspension of the power-supply means with the tiller front-mounted on the latter. The assembly has a power shaft-actuated leveller and cultivating tines front-mounted on its frame. The former has flat sloping plates positioned at equal angles to their axis of rotation so that every following plate is displaced from the preceding one along the axis of rotation through α = Πb/B-Dcosβ. B = operating width of capture. D = diameter of plates; d = distance between adjacent plates; b = angle of positioning the plates relative the axis of rotation. The cultivating tines serve for dispersing the soil compacted through the wheels of the above-mentioned power-supply means.
