FIELD: ceramics. SUBSTANCE: method involves roasting of raw mixture consisting of serpentinite rock and kaolin taken at the ratio (1:1.5)-(1: 5). Roasting is carried out at 1250-1400 C at the temperature roasting range 70-100 C. Cordierite is added to the mixture as chamotte synthesized from a mixture of serpentinite rock and kaolin taken at the ratio 1:1 at the mass part up to 50% . Properties of cordierite ceramics: thermal resistance is 850-1000 C, opened porosity is 1.2-38%, cordierite content is 50-80%. EFFECT: enhanced thermal stability, enlarged temperature range of ceramic roasting, use of cheap and available materials and technical waste. 3 cl, 3 tbl
